Publication Ethics
Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB) is a peer-reviewed journal published by Yayasan Studi Cendekia Indonesia (YSCI). The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in publishing an article in this journal, including the authors, editor-in-chief, editorial board, reviewers, and publisher. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal such as Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB) represents a vital contribution to the development of a coherent and credible body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles are a cornerstone of the scientific method; therefore, it is crucial to maintain agreed standards of ethical behavior among all parties involved in publication the author, journal editor, peer reviewer, publisher, and the broader academic community.
As the publisher of Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB), Yayasan Studi Cendekia Indonesia (YSCI) takes its role of guardianship seriously throughout all stages of publication. The publisher ensures that advertising, reprints, or commercial revenue do not influence editorial decisions. The Editorial Board will also assist in communication with other journals and publishers when necessary.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in producing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results. When authors are found to have engaged in research misconduct or other serious irregularities involving published articles, the Editors have a duty to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record.
In suspected cases of misconduct, the Editors and Editorial Board will adhere to COPE’s best practices to address and resolve complaints fairly. Submitted manuscripts containing evidence of misconduct will be rejected, and published articles found to contain such issues will be retracted, with a retraction notice linked to the original article.
An investigation begins with validating the allegation and assessing its consistency with definitions of misconduct. The corresponding author, on behalf of all co-authors, will be given the opportunity to respond. If necessary, the Editors may consult with additional experts to ensure fairness. Institutions are expected to conduct proper and thorough investigations of alleged misconduct.
Through appropriate responses including corrections, retractions, or retractions with replacement Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB) ensures the accuracy, validity, and integrity of the academic record.
Publication Decisions
The editor of Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB) is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published. The decision is based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors may consult the Editorial Board or reviewers when making this decision, and must act within legal and ethical boundaries concerning libel, copyright, and plagiarism.
Complaints and Appeals
Islamic Intellectual Economy and Business (IIEB) provides a clear procedure for handling complaints concerning the journal, editorial staff, editorial board, or publisher. Complaints may include issues related to the editorial process, citation manipulation, peer-review bias, or unethical conduct. All complaints will be processed according to COPE guidelines and should be submitted via email to admin@ysci.or.id.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political ideology.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, sharing information only with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, when appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest (Editors)
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s written consent.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.
Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to review a manuscript promptly should inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively, avoiding personal criticism.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and report any substantial similarities between the manuscript and other published work.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must not use privileged information for personal gain and should decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must provide an accurate account of the research conducted and its significance. Data should be presented honestly and completely. Fabrication or falsification of results is unethical and unacceptable.
Data Access, Retention, and Reproducibility
Authors must retain raw data for a reasonable period after publication and, where possible, make such data publicly accessible.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of others’ work must be properly cited or quoted.
Multiple or Redundant Publication
Authors should not submit the same research to more than one journal simultaneously. Doing so constitutes unethical behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of others’ contributions is mandatory. Influential publications should always be cited.
Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest (Authors)
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence their research results or interpretation.
Fundamental Errors in Published Work
If an author discovers a major error in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Ethical Oversight
If the research involves human or animal subjects, hazardous materials, or sensitive data, authors must clearly state this in the manuscript and provide ethical clearance from a recognized institution if required.
For research involving confidential business or marketing data, authors must justify how such information is handled securely.
